THE LEGENDS OF LIBERTY
Paperback
The place is called Liberty, and it’s name speaks volumes about how you feel when you are here. All the beauty of Liberty is only equaled by the people who live here. I have traveled to many parts of this country and have seldom met people as wonderful as those in Liberty. I owe a great deal to this small community. My friends, my family, my passions, and my dreams are all here.
Liberty has been a community since the early stages of Giles County.
It is believed that settlers from Prospect moved deeper inward from the Elk River because of strife with other settlers. Once settled they named the place “Liberty” because they felt liberated. The area has seen many faces, many families, and thousands of stories of triumph and heartache. This book is a collection of those stories.
I wish there was a way to recall all the families that have moved through this community. While gathering information, I was able to record more about some families than others. In no way does this imply that one is more important than the others.
Everyone who has ever lived in Liberty has left a mark on it, and we are all grateful.
I believe that the future is only as productive as the knowledge that the past provides, so it is my desire that future generations know who they are. I pray that this book provides that information to all who read it. My love for Liberty is strong and each beautiful day reminds me how fortunate I am to live here.
