THE STILLNESS OF THE MORNING
THE STILLNESS OF THE MORNING
In the quiet stillness of the early morning, before the sun broke the horizon, a gentle breeze whispered through the hills of ancient Israel. It was a time of reflection, a time when the world was hushed and the heart could listen. In this sacred hour, three figures from the Bible, each on their own journey of faith, found themselves seeking the presence of God.
First came Moses, weary from the weight of leadership and the burdens of his people. He climbed the rugged slopes of Mount Sinai, longing for clarity and strength. As he reached the summit, the dawn's light began to paint the sky in hues of orange and pink. Moses knelt on the cool earth, his heart heavy with the cries of the Israelites. Just then, a soft voice called out to him, echoing in the vastness of the mountain. “Moses,” the voice said, “I am here.” In that moment, surrounded by the majestic beauty of creation, Moses felt a warmth envelop him. God spoke to him, reminding him that he was chosen as a leader, not just for the people, but for the fulfillment of a divine promise. Renewed and Reenergized, Moses descended the mountain, ready to guide his people with courage and faith.
Meanwhile, in a small garden just outside the walls of Jerusalem, Mary Magdalene awoke before the sun, her heart still heavy with grief. The events of the past days weighed heavily on her soul; she had lost her teacher and her friend. As she approached the tomb, tears streamed down her face, blurring her vision of the world around her. Suddenly, a soft light began to shine, illuminating the garden. Mary paused, her heart racing as she heard a voice calling her name. “Mary.” It was a voice she recognized, a voice that brought comfort and hope. It was Jesus, risen and alive. In that sacred moment, Mary’s sorrow transformed into joy, as she understood that death had been conquered, and her faith had been vindicated. She ran back to share the news, filled with a new purpose and a heart set ablaze.
Not far from there, a young shepherd named David once stood on the hillside, watching over his father’s sheep. As the first light of dawn broke, he strummed his harp, pouring out his heart in song. Each note floated through the air, a melody of praise to the Creator. It was in the simplicity of his solitude that God met him early and often. As the wind rustled through the trees, David sensed a presence beside him, an overwhelming peace that filled his spirit. “David,” the voice of God affirmed, “I see your heart, and I am with you.” In that moment, David realized that his humble beginnings did not define his future. God had chosen him, not for his stature, but for his heart of worship. Filled with confidence, he knew that he would one day lead a nation, but for now, he would continue to shepherd both his flock and his faith.
As the sun rose higher in the sky, these three characters—Moses, Mary, and David—each experienced a profound encounter with God in the quiet of the morning. They were reminded that in the stillness, in the early hours of the day, God is ever-present, ready to meet us in our moments of Peace and in moments of deep despair.
Their stories intertwine, a testament to the truth that no matter where we season of our journey, God is always waiting to reveal Himself to those who earnestly seek Him. And so, in the dawn of a new day, they each stepped forward, transformed and empowered, ready to live out the callings placed upon their lives.
